One of the worst places I've ever been in. I'd let a random person on the street diagnose me before going here again. There's no way the doctors in the ER went to med school, they don't know ANYTHING !!! They seriously need to be shut down.
My only emergency room experience here was fantastic. I fell and badly injured my leg. Nursing staff, medical assistants, and especially the staff in radiology were unfailingly kind and professional. They were quick, informative, and did a great job. Only thing I'll say is that they mailed my bill to the wrong address which was kind of weird.
I love Baptist Health Richmond and the staff. I have always had excellent staff that really care about me as a patient!
Working with staff at Baptist Health Richmond is always an easy process. Very friendly and always helpful.
I have been told by a nurse there that the ratio of nurses to patients gets as high as eight patients to one registered nurse these days on the Medical/Surgery floor. Baptist Hospitals aren't what they used to be when my children were born in the 1990's. The ratio at that time was five standard patients to one nurse and I was so impressed with the staff at Central Baptist that I wrote my first ever letter of appreciation thanking that staff there. It seems to me that administration is getting paid better, squeezing the grape that is the employees to cover costs and blaming the economy for shortfalls and the need to cut back at the expense of safety to patients. Pattie A. Clay was an average hospital back in the day, but, surprisingly, Baptist Hospitals have lowered the level of that care in the name of economics while I'm sure the pay is pretty damn good for administration. If one nurse has seven or eight patients, and two are needing extensive care, what are the other four to six patients to do if their own family isn't there to be extra support? The best qualified, healthy, young nurse can't cover eight patients safely. Six patients per nurse is a huge burden that is extremely tough for the best nurse to carry and offer quality care. Central Baptist Hospital was top drawer in the early to mid nineties when my children were born there. It has been a slide down the greedy gopher hole it seems since then.
