I don't trust anyone else here in town to work on my VW (1973, air-cooled). He is very knowledgable about a wide variety of cars and is very reasonable on his prices. If you have any European autos, this is definitely the place for mechanical work in Richmond.
One of the few places in Richmond with VW/Audi experience. I had a coolant problem on my 2000 Audi, and while Roberto couldn't fit me into his busy shop schedule at the time, he was very honest about that and very knowledgeable about the complicated cooling system on my twin turbo engine.. As a VW/Audi fan, we spent a good amount of time talking cars and projects. Very friendly and very knowledgeable. I know others who have had work done by Roberto and the tell me his rates and turn around time are very reasonable.
I have taken my VW beetle to every mechanic and Roberto is the only one who was able to fix it without breaking other parts in the process. He knows foreign cars and knows how to work on them, I cannot say that for any other place in town. All other places try to put cheap parts on my bug and anyone who knows VW knows that you cannot do that. Roberto did not try to do that and he knew that without me saying it. I highly recommend him if you have a foreign car. Plus he will not rip you off his prices are fair and reasonable.
He was supposed to give my daughter an estimate on her car, which he did. But the he did work on the car without her permission. He did not do everything he charged her for and then tried to tell people she didn't want to pay him, like she was trying to rip him off or something. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! HE DOES NOT HAVE VERY GOOD BUSINESS ETHICS.
As a car dealer I go through more mechanics than I can count. Roberto has been a life saver on several occasions he has been able to fix several things which none of the other mechanics in my network were able to fix even those who "specialized" in certain vehicles. I highly recommend this mechanic to anyone who has a foreign vehicle.
